How to Download My Patterns
I occasionally publish downloadable patterns and tutorials. These are available as PDF downloads on my Ko-Fi page. For the time being, I plan on keeping all my patterns free. I host them on my Ko-Fi Shop because it’s a convenient way for me to keep everything organized and it’s a secure website for hosting downloadable content.
Using Ko-Fi
Ko-Fi is a platform for supporting independent creators. It’s kind of like a virtual tip jar, but creators can also publish patterns, downloads, art, and other similar things. Creators can also sell physical items through Ko-Fi.
You don’t need to have a Ko-Fi account to visit my page or download my patterns. You can do everything as a guest. If you plan on using Ko-Fi regularly, signing up for an account is easy to do and can help you keep track of your items and the creators you want to support.
Finding a Pattern
To find my patterns, visit my Ko-Fi page and navigate to the Shop tab. There you will find all of my available patterns and templates. You can scroll through the listings to find what you’re looking for or utilize the tags at the top of the page to sort the patterns by type.
When you’ve found a pattern or template you want to download, click the listing. On the next page, you will see a price box with a “Get Now” button below it. I use a Pay-What-You-Want structure, which allows you to either get the pattern for free or pay me your desired amount. To get a pattern for free, just enter $0 in the box. After entering your dollar amount, click the Get Now button.
Downloading a Pattern
On the next screen, you will be prompted to enter your email address and name. If you choose to pay for the pattern, you will also be prompted to check out with PayPal or by entering your card details.
I only see the name you enter when you download a pattern. I do not see or collect your email address or payment info. Ko-Fi needs these details to process the transaction and to deliver your receipt and PDF files. You can also download the PDF file from your browser after checking out.
After entering your name and email, click the “Checkout Now” button. You will then be taken to an Order Details page with a summary of the transaction (even if you paid $0).
Accessing Your Pattern
To access your pattern, click the “View Content” button on the Order Details page. You will also receive an email from Ko-Fi with a link to the content. You can access this later if you clicked away from the Order Details page.
Ko-Fi may send you a follow-up email asking you to confirm your purchase (even if you paid $0). Clicking the Confirm Your Purchase button in the email will allow you to access the content later if you don’t download it right away. Using Your Pattern
After accessing your PDF, you can print it out. For patterns that need to be printed (e.g. my packing cube template) I try to design the files so that you can print just a single page. The PDF will have specific instructions for printing and using the template. Most templates need to be printed at 100% scale to be the correct size. I include scale guides on the print-outs that help you check the size is correct.
