Looking for a super easy pouch sewing pattern? I’m so happy to share my patchwork pencil case pattern with you! I got a lot of requests for making a larger pencil case after publishing my original pencil case pattern. I hope you love this patchwork pencil case just as much! It has plenty of room for all the pencils you’d ever need, but is also works great as a makeup case or travel bag for carrying craft supplies.

This pattern is a free download on my Ko-Fi shop. Please consider supporting me if you enjoy my patterns! Every donation makes a difference and helps me make more patterns.

For this project, you’ll need the following supplies:
Links go to Amazon, Tik Tok Shop, and other places where I love buying supplies.
- Quilting fabric or other woven fabric for liner and end panels
- 24x pieces of quilt fabric cut to 2.5″ squares (you can use a mini charm pack)
- Fusible fleece or quilt batting
- Featherweight or lightweight fusible interfacing
- Rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting mat
- Spray adhesive such as ODIF 505 (unless you are using fusible batting)
- Straight pins or quilting clips
- Zipper foot
- Regular sewing machine foot
- Matching thread
- Iron & Ironing board
- 7″ of webbing (1″ wide)
- 14″ invisible zipper

If you like the fabric I used in the samples with patchwork, it is Legendary Love from Moda. It’s so pretty! I used fabric from Anna Maria Textiles for the ends of the patchwork pouches. The pouch in the middle below uses fabric from Heather Ross.

The pattern includes instructions for making a patchwork pouch or a pouch with a solid panel (see below). You’ll use the same pattern pieces for either design.
