Have you ever made a duvet cover out of quilt fabric? Today I’m going to show you how! I love regular quilts, but in the winter I always find myself wanting something a little warmer and cozier. It occurred to me that I could make a quilt top into a duvet cover.
I’m willing to admit I’m an imperfect, sometimes messy quilter, and I’m okay with that. I wanted to write a blog that gives you permission to be imperfect when making crafts too. I know I’m not the only one who does nothing for fear of not being good enough.
Pillow cases are a great quilting project. They let you get your quilting fix in a much shorter amount of time. I also like making pillow cases because they show off my pretty fabric and don’t take up too much room in the linen cabinet. I especially love making seasonal quilted pillow covers!
Zipper tabs are super easy to make and they’re great for lots of projects. I use these mostly on pouches and pillow cases, but you can use them anywhere you want to conceal the end of a zipper and make it look pretty.
One of my all-time favorite things to make is mini charm pack pouches. Today I’m going to show you how to make these adorable little quilted bags yourself! They’re really great for carrying around a sock knitting project, makeup, medicine, toiletries, and tons of other stuff. And because they’re so cute, they also make great gifts.
Scrappy quilts are by far my favorite kind of quilt. I collect a lot of charm packs and mini charm packs, which means I end up with a lot of random designs in my stash. I love sewing these into simple square patchwork designs, but recently decided I wanted to do something a little more interesting.
I fell in love with the Simplicity 8016 sewing pattern as soon as I saw the envelope. This top had everything I was looking for: Fitted through the shoulders, lace details, tunic length, and a swing hem.
I made this really cute garland for less than $10. With my package of silk leaves, I was able to make more than 80 feet of garland! This is more than enough to string all around the house and make my home feel festive for fall.
A half square triangle or HST is one of the easiest and most versatile quilt blocks you can make. It can be rearranged into almost countless different designs to create a wide range of easy and unique quilts.
